Reaction Time Task
Task description
The numbers 1,2,3,4, appear 10 times each in randomized order with random interval between 1 and 3 seconds. The task is to press the key corresponding to the number on the screen as quickly as possible (press number 1 on the keyboard if the number on the screen is 1 etc..)We have programmed the task using only one presentation for all participants .The interval of 1 second is repeated 14 times and the interval of 2 and 3 second between presentations is repeated 13 times each (please see sheet attached for stimuli order and presentation intervals). The task starts with a practice trial consisting of 6 items. The practice trial can be repeated. Time out for responses is 8 seconds. If no response is given during this time the next trial follows. The program records accuracy and reaction time on correct response.
- No discontinue or branching rules
- All questions to be answered in one session: no “come back later” option. If a child stops the test mid-way by closing the browser, the test is abandoned (with no data recorded). The child will not be allowed to re-start the test, and in the next session, the child will move on to the next web test. The test introduction should stress that this test is very quick.
- Each item is to have a fixed timeout for response: 8 seconds. If a twin times out on an item, this will be coded separately in the item response (e.g. responses 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5=timed out).
